Vision Travel's Brian Robertson and Joel Ostrov share a few final remarks and best wishes for a new year as 2018 comes to a close.
President, Canada West
Another year has come and gone – and what a remarkable year 2018 was! As an organization, we are ending the year on a very high note and I want to thank our incredible clients, team members, and industry partners for helping us build Vision Travel into the company it is today.
This year, as we celebrated our 65th anniversary, the timing couldn’t have been better to grow the Vision Travel family. We embarked on a game-changing acquisition strategy, which saw us welcome a number of the brightest, most passionate people in the industry. Although the Vision Travel team is now larger than ever, our personalized approach and commitment to service excellence hasn’t wavered, and we’ve seen time and time again what we are capable of together. From achieving the #10 spot on the Travel Weekly Power List, to mobilizing across the country to support important causes, I’m so proud of what our team members have accomplished this year.
One of the things that’s always been important to us is maintaining close ties to the communities we operate in and giving back. To end 2018 on a positive note, I’m pleased to share with you that Vision Travel is making donations to children’s hospitals across Canada.
We are pleased to support:
- BC Children’s Hospital
- Alberta Children’s Hospital
- Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba
- Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation in Saskatchewan
- Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) in Ontario
In closing, I want to end on a note of sincere thanks to each and every one of you for your continued support and partnership. On behalf of the entire Vision Travel team, we wish you all the best for 2019!
President, Canada East
First of all, allow me to echo the sentiments expressed by my Canada West colleague, Brian Robertson. Although our region is significantly smaller, we did enjoy a fabulous year, and took on a great group of people from Cortravco when we acquired the company on July 1st of this year. The entire team is now fully integrated into our 30,000 square foot facility here in Montreal, and I can honestly say we feel so fortunate to have Kit, Sarita and their team as part of the Canada East organization!
As Brian states, giving back has always been part of the culture at Vision Travel, and it is comforting to know this philosophy is shared with our parent company in the USA, Direct Travel, which contributed significantly to charities south of the border in 2018. In the case of Canada East, I am proud to add the following to the names of very worthwhile charities that we have supported this past year:
- Dans la Rue – helping homeless children find a family to live with
- Combined Jewish Appeal
- Montreal Children’s Hospital
- Jewish General Hospital – Ride to Cure Cancer
- Fondation Le Pilier
- West Island Montreal Woman’s Shelter
Let me close by wishing you all the best for the holiday season. A healthy and happy new year to you and your families, and let’s make 2019 the best one yet!
